On July 30, MAGNO held its first online workshop, marking a key milestone in our mission to drive systemic change in food packaging through collaboration, innovation, and circular thinking. Together with the in-person edition hosted earlier in Portugal, the events brought together around 50 engaged participants from across sectors — public institutions, NGOs, academia, and industry.
The workshops sparked critical conversations and highlighted the power of connecting local initiatives with broader European goals. The message was clear: lasting transformation begins at the community level and gains strength when aligned with collective ambition.
Looking ahead, HOLOSS — the organizing partner — is exploring ways to extend the impact of the event by repurposing the recorded session as an educational resource, multiplying its reach and encouraging young audiences to engage with sustainability and circular economy practices.
A Shared Vision for Circularity
Among the many valuable insights shared, one stood out: the recognition that circularity is not a niche approach or a technical fix, but a broad and inclusive responsibility. The final session wrapped up with this final thought:
“Today, we’ve journeyed through the layers of circularity — from design foresight and practical innovation to policy shifts and community empowerment. Each topic, each voice, and each idea has added to a richer understanding of how circular systems take root and thrive.
If there’s one takeaway to hold onto, it’s this: circularity is not just a strategy — it’s a shared responsibility. It lives in boardrooms, in sorting bins, in classrooms, and in everyday choices. Whether you’re a policymaker, designer, activist, or curious citizen, you are part of the solution.”
This message reflects the spirit of MAGNO — empowering every stakeholder, from institutions to individuals, to take part in reshaping how we produce, consume, and reuse.
We thank everyone who joined us for this meaningful exchange, and especially HOLOSS for leading the organization of the workshop. Stay tuned as we continue to build momentum and share new insights from across Europe.
