MAGNO at MEDLIFE 2025
December 9 @ 08:00 - December 11 @ 17:00

Next week, MAGNO will be represented at one of the most relevant scientific gatherings in the Mediterranean region. Our partner Mohamed Banni will participate in the International MEDLIFE Meeting 2025, held in Naples, Italy, where he will present a keynote lecture and two scientific communications in special sessions dedicated to soil and marine waters.
In addition, Mohamed will also open the SULIEIA Winter School with a 50 minute lecture, bringing MAGNO’s perspective into a space designed for young researchers and students working on environmental challenges.
About the MEDLIFE Meeting
The Mediterranean Life Sciences Union (MedLIFE) aims to unite the life sciences community across the Mediterranean and beyond. Its mission is to foster collaboration, transdisciplinary research and stronger links between scientists, practitioners and policy makers.
MedLIFE seeks to:
• support international cooperation in the Mediterranean region
• integrate scientific and experiential knowledge to accelerate sustainability transitions
• strengthen the influence of life sciences in policy making
• offer a global platform for joint research and training
MEDLIFE 2025 is expected to gather hundreds of participants in a hybrid format, covering a wide spectrum of life science topics. The proceedings will be published in a Springer book series (indexed in Scopus), along with special issues in scientific journals.
Throughout all sessions where Mohamed participates, MAGNO will be presented and introduced, reinforcing the project’s presence and fostering connections with the Mediterranean scientific community.
SULIEIA Winter Schools
Running in parallel with the conference, the SULIEIA Winter Schools at the University of Naples Federico II offer a five day training programme for international students from project partner universities.
Winter School 1: Resilient Environments – Remediation Strategies for a Sustainable Planet
Organised by the Interdepartmental Center for Environmental Research (C.I.R.A.M.), this school focuses on:
• assessment, management and remediation of contaminated soil, water and air
• site characterisation, risk assessment and policy frameworks
• real case studies and a study site visit
Date: 9–13 December 2025
Venue: Centro Congressi Federico II
Participants: 40 students (European and non European partner universities)
Winter School 2: Environmental Management
Organised by the Departments of Biology and Pharmacy, this school explores:
• innovative and sustainable management systems
• challenges related to natural, agricultural and anthropic ecosystems
• emerging toxins and contaminants
• responsible uses of aquatic and terrestrial resources
Date: 9–13 December 2025
Participants: 30 students (15 Italian + 15 international)
Both programmes aim to strengthen knowledge, encourage multidisciplinary thinking and prepare the next generation of environmental scientists.
MAGNO’s Presence
Mohamed’s participation ensures that MAGNO’s work, values and environmental insights reach a wider network of Mediterranean researchers and emerging experts. His keynote and scientific communications will help highlight the project’s relevance in tackling interconnected environmental challenges.
We look forward to sharing updates from Naples and celebrating this opportunity for visibility, collaboration and scientific dialogue.
