SUMMARY:One Health Conference 2025 – Rome\, Italy
DESCRIPTION:Dates: September 30 – October 2\, 2025Location: Rome\, ItalySpeaker: Dr. Mohamed Banni (University of Sousse / MAGNO Project) \n4th International One Health Conference 2025\nWe are pleased to announce that Dr. Mohamed Banni\, one of the scientific partners of the MAGNO Project\, has been invited as a keynote speaker at the upcoming One Health Conference\, which will take place in Rome\, Italy\, from September 30 to October 2\, 2025. \nThe One Health Conference is an international event that brings together academics\, researchers\, public health professionals\, and policymakers to explore the complex relationships between human health\, animal health\, and environmental sustainability. The One Health framework emphasizes the need for integrative and interdisciplinary approaches to address today’s interconnected global crises—from pollution and biodiversity loss to zoonotic diseases and climate change. \nDr. Banni’s keynote will focus on “Food Packaging–Derived Micro- and Nanoplastics and Their Role in Human Health Challenges: A One Health Approach.” His talk will examine how plastics originating from food packaging can fragment into micro- and nanoplastics\, the pathways through which they enter the environment and food chain\, and the potential risks they pose to human health. This contribution underlines the importance of addressing packaging not only as a waste challenge\, but also as a human health issue — a perspective fully aligned with the One Health and MAGNO approaches. \nThis participation reinforces MAGNO’s commitment to scientific collaboration and public dissemination of research findings. As the project works to reduce plastic pollution and improve sustainability in food packaging systems\, contributions like Dr. Banni’s help bridge the gap between research\, practice\, and policy. \nStay tuned for further insights from the conference and follow us as we continue supporting knowledge exchange for a more sustainable and healthy future. \nLearn more about the event: https://onehealthconference.it/ \nHere you can see some photos of the event:

SUMMARY:Quo vadis Packaging? A workshop on design trends for food packaging
DESCRIPTION:Quo vadis Packaging? A workshop on design trends for food packaging \nWhat is it about? Plastics-based food packaging is subject to strong pressures to change due to consumer expectations and regulatory demands. Sustainability is of special importance in this regard. Possible ways in the future can be referred to as design trends. Within the Horizon Europe project MAGNO\, we have collected information on packaging design trends. In this workshop\, we want to discuss the future of plastics packaging with you. \nWhat are the contents of the workshop? We have considered various factors of (technical) packaging design and applied a SWOT analysis. In this workshop\, we will present our findings to you. On the other hand\, we would like to work out with you\, how we can imagine and shape the near future of food packaging design. We consider current market trends as well as developments from the world of research. The design trends discussed: \n• Mono-materials\n• Minimalist design / minimalist material use\n• Use of recycled material\n• Biomimicry and bio-based materials\n• Utilization of waste-streams as a material source\n• Biodegradable materials\n• Edible materials\n• Reusable packaging\n• Smart packaging \nWho are we? The workshop will be conducted by the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering andPackaging IVV. Within MAGNO\, Fraunhofer IVV is responsible for packaging design trends.\nWhen and where? On the 9th of December\, 1 PM to 4 PM (CET)\, online.\nWhere can I register? https://forms.office.com/e/ZmRPrgJ2ey \nWhat is MAGNO? MAGNO – „Transforming EU food systems with innovative strategies for sustainable packaging“ – is a Horizon Europe project with the goal to develop strategies for sustainable food packaging and to develop tool to assess those strategies. In this context\, we collected information to various aspects around the sustainability of plastics-based food packaging. You can find more information at www.magno-project.eu \nSupporting materials.  \nBe it professionally or privately – we get in touch with packaging all the time. Especially plastics packaging is subject to pressure to change. This leads to some interesting trends in packaging design.
