SUMMARY:Online Session: MAGNO EU Second Workshop on Future Trends in Food Packaging Technology: Transition to innovative circular strategies.
DESCRIPTION:Event registration link: https://events.teams.microsoft.com/event/02928383-9412-4092-9a4c-6da9f6fead47@b100caa0-ee9e-4a90-a1b6-098b7957cdb3 09/12/2025 15:30 to 16:30 (CET)  Details: HOLOSS\, in collaboration with The Navigator Company and the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança\, is pleased to host an online workshop exploring emerging trends in food packaging technology. This event is part of the second MAGNO EU workshop\, which aims to accelerate the transition toward innovative circular economy strategies. Participants will gain firsthand insights into sustainable and smart packaging solutions\, with contributions from industry experts and pioneering projects. The session will feature live demonstrations\, interactive discussions\, and real-world case studies that highlight how the packaging sector is evolving to reduce environmental impact and embrace circularity. Panelists Leonardo Gomes is a Project Research Specialist at HOLOSS\, working on EU-funded sustainability projects. With a background in Chemical Engineering and Project Management\, he’s pursuing a PhD in Advanced Materials at the University of Porto. His focus includes Life Cycle Assessment and circular economy strategies across industries.                  Madeleine is a Business Development Specialist at HOLOSS\, with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in International Relations. She works on EU-funded projects in the chemical sector\, focusing on plastics and food packaging. Her role bridges stakeholder perspectives to foster inclusive\, sustainable innovation.   \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nPost-event update\nOn 9 December 2025\, HOLOSS hosted the second MAGNO online workshop\, Future Trends in Food Packaging Technology\, as part of a four-workshop series designed to promote more sustainable consumer choices and support the transition towards circular food packaging systems. \nThe session brought together 94 registered participants\, mainly young adults aged 18–24\, from academic environments. This figure represents a proxy count\, as several classes joined the workshop using shared devices\, meaning the actual reach was likely significantly higher. \nThe workshop focused on emerging technologies and innovative alternatives to conventional plastic-based packaging\, showcasing sustainable and recyclable food-packaging materials through live demonstrations\, expert contributions and real-world case studies. Participants engaged actively in interactive discussions\, strengthening the link between research\, education and industry while increasing awareness of practical solutions to reduce environmental impact. \nOrganised in collaboration with The Navigator Company and the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança\, the event reinforced MAGNO’s commitment to engaging younger generations and academic communities in the development of future circular economy strategies. \nBelow\, we share a selection of images from the workshop. \n    \n

SUMMARY:MAGNO at European Ocean Days 2026
DESCRIPTION:From 3 to 7 March 2026\, representatives from Knowledge Value Consulting (Kveloce Group)\, partners in the MAGNO project\, participated in the European Ocean Days 2026 held in Brussels. \n\n\n\nThe event brought together policymakers\, researchers\, industry representatives and civil society organisations to discuss key topics related to ocean governance\, the blue economy and marine sustainability. Throughout the week\, Kveloce colleagues engaged in discussions with stakeholders across the marine and fisheries ecosystem\, exchanging perspectives on current challenges and opportunities for collaboration. \n\n\n\nThese conversations are closely connected with the objectives of MAGNO\, which works to advance more sustainable food packaging systems and reduce environmental impacts\, including those affecting marine ecosystems. Events such as European Ocean Days provide an important platform to connect research\, policy and innovation communities working toward healthier oceans and more sustainable economic models. \n\n\n\nParticipation in these discussions also contributes to strengthening links between MAGNO and broader European initiatives addressing marine protection\, circular economy solutions and the prevention of pollution at sea.
